He wouldn't
A dog followed me home
To protect himself
From the lot of barking beasts
Uprooting the night
How good it felt
Someone who needed me
He joined me to the gate
I tried to negotiate
But he wouldn’t come inside
I was willing
I was willing
To draw the map
In pink and grey
But you already had
Outlined the river
In yellow and blue
I was always willing
To draw the map
And read it to you
But I was late
And you took a path
That I never drew
only i
nothing of what i said was true
that i was different
from then
only i
had lost connection
with the river
underground
And I know
Only when I’m far
My shade comes close
Enough to be one
With yours
My lips touch
Your hair
And I know
Outside is storm
Those poles
How can you just cross
those poles
as if nothing happened?
Doesn’t your heart freeze
to death?
In that little casket
In that little casket
A melody of cups
Touching lips in porcelain
Salty taste of tears
The back of a book
Waiting in a drawer
Never to be read again
A cat without colours
A painting never promised
Hanging in the attic
Where I comb my hair
Take a good look
I’ve cursed those strokes
Drawn with an autumn leaf
Hear the distant music
I’ve lost a little piece
Of your cup
Tumbling in the air

To secret lakes
Take my sleep
Place it in the bracelet
Close to your skin
Wear me
Carry me
To secret lakes
Where time is not known
Where regret does not exist
Dreams hide
In tree branches
Pinching holes into leaves
You collect them
Fallen
Before your feet
A collection
That fills
An entire room with
Nothingness

saved from the dragon
on the edge, papercuts
saved from the dragon
the beard growing long
a glacier and a mountain
if only I knew time
all life began in autumn
the colours of a leaf
weighing on my shoulder
no false expectations
winter is to come
erratic affection
I hope for spring
